Technique 6.35 Reverse Brainstorming
Introduction
this technique basically involves work to create problems rather than solutions.
"...Creating problems teaches you what not to do so you're more intuitive to needs of the your project. Think of it like hacking into your company to find out where the weaknesses are..."
Furthermore, reverse brainstorming tells you what to avoid from the start; generally, it is easy to start with what not to do, rather than with what to do.
An example is marketing
"...- come up with a top worst client you could attract to your company, which would tell you the types of leads you should pursue
- create the worst of verbiage you can use in your ads, which would tell you that type of tone and wording you should use in your campaigns
- outline what failure looks like to your team, which could then be used to come up with new goals and objectives..."
