Pushback or Resistance to Change

Introduction

In every change initiative, there will be varying degrees of resistance; this needs to be handled, ie understanding the causes and not just the symptoms so that you developed the most effective strategies, tactics, etc

(for more detail, see elsewhere in the Knowledge Base)
"...resistance to change is natural and should be expected. Employees fear losing relationships, activities, and even their jobs. Sometimes, they don't trust that the change is worth the cost or that their managers knows what he or she is doing. It's vital to address resistance to change. By building trust and communicating the change clearly, managers can work against an employee's impulse to resist and cultivate an environment that's accepting of change..."

Furthermore, change takes time; generally it takes longer than anticipated with more challenges occurring than expected.
"...While an ideal implementation may seem like a possibility on paper, the reality on the ground may prove to be quite different..."

Nathan Altadonna, 2023
