Emotional Intelligence Requirements for a Job

Introduction

More organisations are realising the importance of emotional intelligence in the workplace. Thus there is increased testing in the workplace as it will tell you about how someone will operate within different environments and how they will interact with others around them. Furthermore, you can tell how they will react to a specific job with particular emotional demands, ie
"...it measures an individual's capacity to understand and control their own emotions and recognise and manage those of others..."

This involves 5 traits and 15 elements in emotional intelligence (see diagram below)

Matching a candidate's EQ with that required for a particular job. The below diagram shows the range that is required for the job and the candidate's position.

They don't quite align, ie a candidate struggles with emotional regulation and to a lesser extent social awareness, self-motivation and adaptability. Thus, this person needs help, like training, to improve their capabilities.
