More on Intrapreneurship

Introduction
An ultimate aim of many organisational changes is to develop a culture that displays a strong sense of collective purpose and shared vision; this creates a sense of belonging
"...Research shows that the stronger our sense of belonging, the stronger our well-being, while a lack of belonging contributes to anxiety and depression. One powerful way to achieve this is by cultivating an intrapreneurial culture within the workplace..."
Irena Yashin-Shaw, 2024
"...Intrapreneurship refers to the practice of fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and spirit within an organisation. It involves empowering employees to think and act like entrepreneurs, take initiative, innovating, and driving positive change within the company's framework. It enables people to liberate their talents, engage their passions,  feel a strong sense of achievement, fulfilment and contribution..."
Irena Yashin-Shaw, 2024
Ways of developing intrapreneurship to foster a sense of belonging (4)
i) people feel seen and heard (they feel valued, ie their ideas matter; they generate new ideas, challenge the status quo, explore unconventional solutions to existing problems; this encourages a sense of ownership and empowerment)
ii) people feel nurtured (professional and personal development are encouraged; intrapreneurial activities are resourced adequately; opportunities are provided to staff to enhance their individual skills)
iii) people feel valued (staff are recognised, rewarded and supported for taking initiatives;
"...Acknowledging their efforts publicly and providing incentives for innovation reinforces the culture of appreciation and motivates others to contribute actively. Recognition creates a positive feedback loop where employees feel valued and connected to the organisation..."
Irena Yashin-Shaw, 2024
iv) people feel empowered (
"...When employees are empowered to innovate and take ownership of their ideas, they feel a sense of pride and responsibility towards their work. This sense of ownership strengthens their connection to the organisation and fosters a feeling of belonging. When employees see how their work contributes to broader organisational goals, they develop a deeper sense of purpose and belonging..."
Irena Yashin-Shaw, 2024
