A Way to Handle the Negatives on Goal Setting

Introduction
Most people are encourage to have goals and work towards them a basis for success.

However, goal setting has been regarded as flawed
"...a goal basically means that until you hit your goal, you are inherently failing. When you are working toward your goals, you're still failing, failing, failing, until you reach the goal and then you succeed. And the way humans work is that we don't really rest on our laurels, which really means we don't really get much joy from achieving a goal......don't feel a lasting sense of accomplishment because what you do. You immediately set a new goal.....immediately return to a your state of failure. It becomes an iterative process of goal setting, failure state, success, failure state, success..."

This applies to big and small goals.
Systems
An alternative involves thinking about the direction you're aiming to go in and how to allocate your resources including money, time and effort. It is called systems. For example, if you want to achieve a certain number of sales per quarter, it is important to think about what to achieve in daily activities, like phone calls, meetings, etc that will ultimately lead to you achieving sales per quarter. In many ways it's like achieving short-term goals, ie daily activities, which are feasible and obtainable on the journey to a long-term goal, ie quarterly results. In other words, break your long-term goals into short-term, achievable components.
