More Leadership Myths

Introduction

A multitude of books, articles, etc have been written about leadership.

Five myths

1. Too young to lead (the Internet has changed the environment we work in from previously:
"...where as an adult accrued knowledge over time and learnt through perseverance - the generation that grew up alongside the Internet is flooded with information at any given moment..."
Hello leaders, 2023

With access to the Internet, answers can be found quickly and easily.
"...In the information age what matters most is how adept someone is at filtering through information to become a fast learner and efficient decision-maker..."

Hello leaders, 2023

Access to knowledge is the key to leadership, rather than experience)

2. One leadership style fits all (leaders need to be flexible enough to adapt  to outcomes in different situations; there is 'no-one-size-fits' all)
(for more details, see elsewhere in the Knowledge Base)

3. Quality comes at a cost (higher quality does not necessarily require a high price tag)

4. You've either got it or you don't (there are very few 'born leaders'
"...many leaders navigate life and climb their way up through their career or develop the skillsets throughout their livelihood..."
Hello leaders, 2023)

5. If no one is negative, everything is positive (important to get continual feedback
"...it's essential to keep an ear to the ground and maintain a steady stream of communication in order to ensure that your ship is sturdy, secure and setting out on a fantastic journey to the next big thing..."
Hello leaders, 2023)
