lxxxiii) Electronic Monitoring Of Staff (with the increasing use of hybrid or remote working, some organisations are turning to using workplace surveillance installed on staff computers as a way of assessing performance and productivity. Firstly, you have to check that the metrics you are using are relevant. Need to be mindful that

eg the number of e-mails someone sends is not a good measure of productivity and performance; similarly with the amount of time spent on social media, etc.

If you use the wrong metrics, it will encourage staff to start to satisfy the software, ie what gets measured and rewarded gets done, rather than actually doing their jobs.

Better than using software is to check that they are delivering what is required on time and under budget, irrespective of other things they do.)
