To Persuade People
Use a combination of these 4 techniques
i) logos (use rational reasoning; people respond to well-reasoned arguments that rely on evidence to make it real; to make sense of what exists; use facts, statistics, expert testimonials from reliable sources)
ii) pathos (appeal to emotions like fear, pity, happiness, etc; appeal to the audience's attitude; people are feeling as well as thinking)
iii) ethos (most effective method; appeal to the good character or quality of the person; involves being likeable, dynamic, trustworthy, respected, honest; establish common ground and connect with their good qualities)
iv) mythos (appeal to the culture and values of the group as people value membership within cultures; think about what the group values like quality, participation, safety, justice, service to community, etc)
