Common Change Management Errors (6 cont. c)
More On Co-Creating
Importance of co-creating
Co-creating and co-designing the change process with staff results in buy-in and ownership by staff, ie it becomes their change project, not the consultants' nor senior management's, etc
"...employees who experienced demands for change and a sense of control over these demands lead to a state of engagement.....the higher sense of control over the demands......the higher propensity towards a state of activation. Conversely, the lower the sense of control in a highly demanding environment, the higher the frustration and burn-out risk..."
as quoted by Ryk Croukamp, 2018
The diagram below shows that in a graphical form, eg the lower left quadrant indicates resulting from low demands and a low sense of control while the top left-hand quadrant represents a state of stagnation, low demand yet high sense of control. Most employees want to be challenged. However, they want a sense of control and to have adequate support
