Future Workplace
Some predictions of what the future workplace could look like include:
- structural changes with fewer layers of management
- reduction in number of people working together in the same location
- individuals working harder and longer hours
- increasing number of people with more than one job
- more people will be working remotely, ie from home
- a rise in the average age of working people owing to decreasing birth rate and the increasing number of older people working
- owing to changing technology and a more competitive environment, workers will continually have to upgrade and learn new skills, especially change competencies
"...Change competency is described as the ability to handle change environment and the outlook ......Change competency is also about choosing a change strategy that matches the organisation and its members experience of change processes..."
Ajayi Samson Adeniyi, 2022
- more employment choices with increasing numbers of self-employed and people working in smaller organisation
- there will be an increasing demand for change owing to factors like ongoing globalisation, stronger competition, technological developments, consumer-driven markets, etc.
